Combining ‘art and living’ in the figurative and literal sense was primary for this client. With a pastoral vocation and a love of painting, the space needed to evoke a truly unique personal spirit. Since Door County architecture dwells in the firm’s veins, the owner selected BAG’s out/back design team for its experience of designing more with less - a minimalistic approach proper for designing buildings in concert with nature. Set into a cliff, the building’s upper realms offered views to the water above the forest canopy that required setbacks did not allow on lower levels.
